The Bucket list review

Note: I heard a lot about this movie. Its strongly recommended by some of my friends, but what really made me see this movie?I came across chinmayi's blog two days back while surfing in college, she had recently seen the movie and the post had nearly 50 comments and all of them had recommended this movie.

Casting includes the two finest actors of all time, Morgan Freeman and jack nicholson.

Plot is pretty similar to dasvidaniya(ya. bucket list is considered original)The movie is quite philosophical, comical, emotional.Every single dialogue stands apart defining whole new dimension for life. But why the name Bucket list, the movie has the explanation for it..(list of things a man should do before he kicks his bucket)
4.5/5 For this and the song "say" by john mayer at the end of the movie really needs a mention.. :-)

Dasvidaniya review

This movie tagged as "The best ever goodbye" is a rare breed among the commercial bollywood.I heard and read a lot about this movie, like its heavily inspired from Hollywood movies like "The Bucket list", "My life" etc.. But this movie moved me a lot, All credits goes to Vinay pathak (the man who gave us the beautiful comedy "bheja fry").

Plot: An ordinay man, least successful in life finds out that he is going to die and writes down a list."10 Things he should do before he die". He dies scoring 10/10. His beautiful untold and undertold love and the friends who call them G9 and G10(watch the movie to know what it really means) are the places where the director stands out.
Music of khilash kher has to be mentioned and i can give 10/10 for MUMMA song. simple catchy tune with much original lyrics :-)
3/5 for dasvidaniya...
A must watch :-)
see u soon

Children of Men Review

Wednesday, December 24, 2008

Note: This is the movie recommended strongly by my friend deepak. He will never suggest a movie, unless its worth watching.. Some of his other recommendations are prestige, requim for the dream, the pianist, as good as it gets, 12 angry men etc...

This is a movie which is really disturbing and worth watching.
Plot: 2027..World had become infertile for more than 18yrs,still war is there destroying the remainings of the human race. At this juncture Theo finds a women pregnant and he has to rescue her from here and take her to the "human project". The movie really proves that a child's cry can stop the war.

Its worth watching.. **** for this out of 5.. its also there in IMDB top 250 movies..

Review

Silambattam
- Not definitely worth a review("waste of 100 bucks")

Genre: Like all the oldies, beautiful village, one hero, his son... total revenge..

+ves: Dance, cinematography, chumma camera fight scene la suthi suthi varudhu..

-ves: If i start writing all the negatives then the post will be never ending one.Simbu is playing football all over(Villians are no match for this maccho man without muscles)No genuine comedy sequences except for the scenes of karunas(Although he dies doing comedy!!!) During dance sequences most of the time simbu dances alone(Its like seeing,"UNGALIL YAARU ADUTHA PRABU DEVA". This time No elimination for simbu). This film should have had a fruitful success if it had come in early 90's. Simbu coming as billa is definitely a treat for "THALA" fans..

I am giving 1/5. (Watch only if u dont know what else to do in the holidays)

Saturday, July 26, 2008

The no of blasts increased and the blasts had been well planned. As the sources of the news channel cnn/ibn and ndtv say, first blasts occurred between 6.45 to 7.15(approx) and the last blasts were around 8.15. what is the reason for the time delay.. That too the last blasts were targeted outside the hospitals and the reports say that the bomb was planted in a car inside the govt hospital and it flew to a height of 50ft from the ground when the blast occurred... the injured from the first blast will be taken to anyone of the hospitals .. what type of design is this???

    Somnath chatterjee expelled from CPM

    Thursday, July 24, 2008

This is what a true individual deserve i suppose . CPM gifted the Honorable speaker on his 79th bday for his 40yr service to the party with an expelling order issued yesterday. What actually he did to be expelled? The one who is taking the position of the speaker should take a oath saying that he should not be biased towards any party. And now party expelled him bcoz he was true to his oath.I recommend the president to expel the Party... lol ... they never really does anything productive , except for raising their voices all the time against everyone who s ruling.. lol

    A.I Review

I dont have words to describe this movie. Its beyond what we call as reality. Yet,Nothing in this movie is virtual. After waiting so long, I saw this movie today. Even Spielberg cant do a futuristic movie now. While no one can do it better than him . Its really amazing to dream about the future,Which is really going to be what it is like in the Movie. Must watch for all the youngsters who dream a lot.
Ill give 7/10 for the movie .. while ill give 9/10 for the visual effects and screenplay ....

No Country for old man - Review.

“No Country for Old Men,” adapted by Joel and Ethan Coen from Cormac McCarthy’s novel, is bleak, scary and relentlessly violent. The character of Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem), a deadpan sociopath with a funny haircut, will feed many a nightmareThe punch line comes when he blows a hole in your head with the pneumatic device he prefers to a conventional firearm. Tommy lee jones plays an old sheriff who is in search of Anton and another man, played by James Brolin(who was on the run.)

Plot: A man finds a bag full of money in a place where the illegal drug deal went wrong and another killer follows him(obviously for the money!) killing everyone on his way.

The movie sans dialogues as u can understand everything(really cinematography shld be appreciated). The way the killer has be portrayed is the best about this movie.

Ill give 7.2/10(:) i felt the movie is slow)

    Movie:
    The man from the Earth

    Production cost:
Enna perusa irukapogudhu, rendu car poyitu poyitu varum, oru veedu, rendu cusion sheets,8 ppl,one bottle of mcdonald green, switch to on and off a light, two candles... thats it... lol

Dialogues: pages and pages .Ull hear it again and again,if you are a rare breed like me. lol

Will every dialogue makes logic? i have to say each and every word our hero says. It makes u think out of box, beyond the boundaries. How a man in bronze age and stone age would have thought of stars? How would it be if the one who was crucified wasn't Jesus Christ. How about the word john aces becoming jesus. I am refraining myself from letting out the story. Hope this review kindle atleast one person who reads it to see the movie.I can guarentee a 1hr 20 min of you gluing in ur chairs.
I am giving 8.5/10 for this movie.

Is the IPL franchises Fixing the Man Of the Match awards also? I thought this match between chennai super kings and delhi daredevils only witnessed poor umpiring,I am proved wrong. DASAVATHARAM SONGS- REVIEW

    Monday, April 28, 2008

Tomoro i am having Semester exams, But today only i got the much awaited audio of Dasavatharam,I cant wait till the exams get over to write this post. I got all the five songs and a remix, My full credits goes to kallai mattum kandal sung by hariharan. Realy catchy one. The second and third positions in the list is ulaga nayagane song and oh.. oh sanam.. sorry, ill rate oh.. oh .. sanam more than ullaga nayagane, simply for the voice of Kamal Hassan, another peppy no is there, i hope that is the item number done by mallika sharavat. Mukundha Mukundha song is a devotional one and watch out for the mimicry done by Kamal at the end of the song in lady voice.. He has done don 10 roles, including two female characters. Trailor was par excellence and already film is considered to be hit among the distributors. Lets wait and see the Real picture..

My views on the match Calcutta Knight Riders Vs Chennai Super kings.

    Saturday, April 26, 2008

    Match:

First thing that went wrong is Toss, I think dhadha dint take much concern about the pitch, but choose to bat. From that Wicket of Mccullam everything went wrong. My team lost wickets in regular intervals, all the ones who were expected to put a great show failed to do their part. Crowd was so responding but that dint help my favorites to put up a good total, 148 easily chaceble. Then came the parthiv patel and Hayden they dint do ny big mistakes, they played their part well. After the wicket of parthiv patel Dhoni came, HE is the one I like most as a captain and like least as a player. He is a batsman, sorry i can’t call him as a batsman, My heart wont allow that. He is the one who relies on his milk shakthi(NO its not cokkie u think)Its the power he gets from milk. Other that that, He dont even Know to play a single good clean short. Everything wil be a miss hit. I think he has never read the Text book shorts yet,

    Coming to Entertainment:

I think this is also a reason for the KOlkatta not performing today. there is No SRK to cheer them up, He is on a tour for some award function i think. HE is not here, But see this , VIjay is here to support chennai team, No one is saying anything about him or not even showing him. He was shown only once, Drums shiva mani got more mentioning than Vijay... THe so called Next super star... Pity on him..

    Youngsters I figured out:

I have to mention about Goni and Lakshmi rattan shukla.. Goni, is tall, have every feature and characteristics of a fast bowler. I think he will be a useful find for India. Lakshmi Ratan shukla… Wow he played his innings in style... with out him, CalcuttaCheers to those guys.. would have been bowled out within 100..

Player with Maximum Bid- scores Minimum

The player who got the maximum bid, was out for one. I am speaking about Mahendra singh dhoni only. Thank god, his luck dint continue this time. So far i have never seen a quality batting from dhoni except for a few knocks. His shots were neither classy nor in text books.
But HUSSEy is having fun out there. He is the man of the evening i suppose. Yet another Hundred in the IPL. I think this is the fastest hundred. Hussey is really showing his anger over the bid.. LOL...100 of 50 balls.Irfan pathan though he took two wickets has gone for runs. 2/42 in his four over spell. Juniors.... have a glance if you have time..

    Saturday, April 5, 2008

    HI juniors,

AS i said, he are few tips.. i can give to get good marks in sem.. I scored reasonably good percentile in first and second semester so i think my tips will be useful for u all.

I think most of u will have this fear, First time v r going to write the exam, how is it going to be?

Hear me; you have passed out twelfth itself in flying colors, then y worrying about Anna university exams?

Here and there i am leaving some tips. (Have your own style of writing, i mean don’t be monotonous like most of the girls using three colors. decorating the paper all)

Frankly speaking, My exam paper will have only blue pen(which i used to write obviously) and pencil, which i used to put line as a separation between two questions.

Ok. i am coming to the point. .

    • Always read the syllabus book fully

    • There are many chances of having a question or two out of syllabus (not always really, but fortunately I got in first sem, which will fetch you attempt marks... :) )

    • Maths: refer the syllabus book... Most of the sums will be from book only. So better go through all example sums...

    • For physics and electrical also the same, I mean problems will be from book only. Regarding the conceptual papers, giving examples will fetch you more marks. IF there is a block dia or dia for a question, you should be drawing it.

    • Just think, the examiner will not be having any time to sit and read all that you have written in the paper. So if u had drawn a diagram, he will automatically give you more marks.

    • Concentrate more on two marks, if u get good marks in part –A section, you will be getting above 12 for each question in part-B.

    • For theory subjects, side headings are very much important. Try to break the questions into points and write. Engineering graphics,hmmm.. there is no need for me to tell about this subject, You would have been familiar with perspective, Isometric and free hand sketches… These are easy and will fetch you full marks,

Hope my tips are useful for you all. All the best … come out with flying colors..

South africa unstoppable.. Yest bajji reported to press saying, "a bad first day for india,v need to forget this and get along with the game". Now i get a doubt, i think what bajji told is the game plan of india in this test match. OMG!! how can he leak out the game plan?? so india going to forget all five days and totally this test match, if it continues they got forget this test series itself. "i have got enough runs in a single test match, ill be in the team for next ten years", hope sewag is not playing in this framework.WIll india fight back??Lets wait and see.

Coming to the protest by tamil actors.I think its really a good thing to come forward and protest for a good cause.(for the welfare of tamil people in karnataka). Hey man, whats happenning here?? if india is not safe for an indian where will he go?Hope our kannadian friends, give up their attitude towards tamilians. Hope peace prevail everywhere for the generations to come..

    WHat a performance by india..

    Thursday, April 3, 2008

    What a batting by indians....
I think this is the worst performance by indians in ahmedhabad pitch.. Steyn is the man of the day taking 5 crucial wickets of indians.Top scorer for india is Pathan 21*.. all others single digit.. Thala Gangully(dhadha.)... Rp singh... aggressive sreeshanth all gone for duck..
I THINK INDIANS HAVE IMPLEMENTED A NEW STYLE OF BATTING BY BATTING BEHIND THE STUMPS.. A total of 6 bowled so far in indian innings..
IF this continues, the test match will end in the third day itself.
(for further updates, log on to cricinfo.com... lastest photos will guide you to a marvallous photo section of how indians got out)

    1) Alice and Bob are on separate islands. Bob is sick, and Alice has the medicine. Eve has a boat and a chest that can be locked. She is willing to transport objects between Alice and Bob, but only in the chest, and if the chest is unlocked, she will steal whatever is inside. If both Alice and Bob have a padlock and a key such that their own key only opens their own lock, how can Alice send Bob the medicine so that Eve won't steal it?

    2) Every day, Joe arrives at the train station from work at 6pm. His wife leaves home in her car to meet him there at exactly 6pm, and drives him home. One day, Joe gets to the station an hour early, and starts walking home, until his wife meets him on the road. They get home 20 minutes earlier than usual. How long was he walking? (HINT:Distances are unspecified. Speeds are unspecified, but constant.)

Great Love Story of Narayana Murthy (Infosys Founder) and Sudha (From Sudha's Autobiography)

An Inspiring Love story,, its worth, Read it !!

Love Story of Narayana Murthy (Infosys Founder) and Sudha (From Sudha's Autobiography)
    pic1:NarayanaMurthy and Sudha
    pic2:
Sudha, Rohini Nilekani & Kumari Shibulal
It was in Pune that I met Narayan Murty through my friend Prasanna who is now the Wipro chief, who was also training in Telco(TataMotors). Most of the books that Prasanna lent me had Murty's name on them which meant that I had a preconceived image of the man. Contrary to expectation, Murty was shy, bespectacled and an introvert. When he invited us for dinner. I was a bit taken aback as I thought the young man was making a very fast move. I refused since I was the only girl in the group. But Murty was relentless and we all decided to meet for dinner the next day at 7.30 p.m .. at Green Fields hotel on the
    Main Road
    ,Pune.

The next day I went there at 7' o ! clock since I had to go to the tailor near the hotel. And what do I see? Mr. Murty waiting in front of the hotel and it was only seven. Till today, Murty maintains that I had mentioned (consciously!) that I would be going to the tailor at 7 so that I could meet him... And I maintain that I did not say any such thing consciously or unconsciously because I did not think of Murty as anything other than a friend at that stage. We have agreed to disagree on this matter.

Soon, we became friends. Our conversations were filled with Murty's experiences abroad and the books that he has read. My friends insisted that Murty as trying to impress me because he was interested in me. I kept denying it till one fine day, after dinner Murty said, I want to tell you something. I kn ew this  as it. It was coming. He said, I am 5'4" tall. I come from a lower middle class family. I can never become rich in my life an! d I can never give you any riches. You are beautiful, bright, and intelligent and you can get anyone you want. But will you marry me? I asked Murty to give me some time for an answer. My father didn't want me to marry a wannabe politician, (a communist at that) who didn't have a steady job and wanted to build an orphanage...

When I went to Hubli I told my parents about Murty and his proposal. My mother was positive since Murty was also from Karnataka, seemed intelligent and comes from a good family. But my father asked: What's his job, his salary, his qualifications etc? Murty was working as a research assistant and was earning less than me. He was willing to go dutch with me on our outings. My parents agreed to meet Murty in Pune on a particular day at10 a. m sharp. Murty did not turn up. How can I trust a man to take care of my daughter if he cannot keep an appointment, asked my father.

At 12noon Murty turned up in a bright red shirt! He had gone on work to Bombay , was stuck in a traffic jam on the ghats, so he hired a taxi(though it was very expensive for him) to meet his would-be father-in-law. Father was unimpressed. My father asked him what he wanted to become in life.

Murty said he wanted to become a politician in the communist party and wanted to open an orphanage. My father gave his verdict. NO. I don't want my daughter to marry somebody who wants to become a communist and then open an orphanage when he himself didn't have money to support his family.

Ironically, today, I have opened many orphanages  something, which Murty wanted to do 25 years ago. By this time I realized I had developed a liking towards Murty which could only be termed as love. I wanted to marry Murty because he is an honest man. He proposed to me highlighting the negatives in his life. I promised my father that I will not marry Murty without his blessings though at the same time, I cannot marry anybody else. My father said he would agree if Murty promised to take up a steady job. But Murty refused saying he will not do things in life because somebody wanted him to. So, I was caught between the two most important people in my life.

The stalemate continued for three years during which our courtship took us to every restaurant and cinema hall in Pune. In those days, Murty was always broke. Moreover, he didn't earn much to manage. Ironically today, he manages Infosys Technologies Ltd., one of the world's most reputed companies. He always owed me money. We used to go for dinner and he would say, I don't have money with me, you pay my share, I will return it to you later. For three years I maintained a book on Murty's debt to me.. No, he never returned the money and I finally tore it up after my wedding.

The amount was a little over Rs 4000. During this interim period Murty quit his job as research assistant and started his own software business. Now, I had to pay his salary too! Towards the late 70s computers were entering India in a big way.

During the fag end of 1977 Murty decided to take up a job as General Manager at Patni computers in Bombay .. But before he joined the company he wanted to marry me since he was to go on training to the US after joining. My father gave in as he was happy Murty had a decent job, now.

WE WERE MARRIED IN MURTY'S HOUSE IN BANGALORE ON FEBRUARY 10, 1978 WITH ONLY OUR TWO FAMILIES PRESENT.I GOT MY FIRST SILK SARI. THE WEDDING EXPENSES CAME TO ONLY RS 800 (US $17) WITH MURTY AND I POOLING IN RS 400 EACH.

I went to the US with Murty after marriage. Murty encouraged me to see America on my own because I loved travelling. I toured America for three months on backpack and had interesting experiences which will remain fresh in my mind forever. Like the time when the New York police took me into custody because they thought I was an Italian trafficking drugs in Harlem . Or the time when I spent the night at the bottom of the Grand Canyon with an old couple. Murty panicked because he couldn't get a response from my hotel room even at midnight. He thought I was either killed or kidnapped.

IN 1981 MURTY WANTED TO START INFOSYS. HE HAD A VISION AND ZERO CAPITAL...initially I was very apprehensive about Murty getting into business. We did not have any business background ... Moreover we were living a comfortable life in Bombay with a regular pay check and I didn't want to rock the boat. But Murty was passionate about creating good quality software. I decided to support him. Typical of Murty, he just had a dream and no money. So I gave him Rs 10,000 which I had saved for a rainy day, without his knowledge and told him, This is all I have. Take it. I give you three years sabbatical leave. I will take care of the
financial needs of our house. You go and chase your dreams without any worry. But you
    have only three years!

Murty and his six colleagues started Infosys in 1981,with enormous interest and hard work. In 1982 I left Telco and moved to Pune with Murty. We bought a small house on loan which also became the Infosys office. I was a clerk-cum-cook-cum-programmer. I also took up a job as Senior Systems Analyst with Walchand group of Industries to support the house.

In 1983 Infosys got their first client, MICO, in Bangalore . Murty moved to Bangalore and stayed with his mother while I went to Hubli to deliver my second child, Rohan. Ten days after my son was born, Murty left for the US on project work. I saw him only after a year, as I was unable to join Murty in the US because my son had infantile eczema, an allergy to vaccinations. So for more than a year I did not step outside our home for fear of my son contracting an infection. It was only after Rohan got all his vaccinations that I came to Bangalore where we rented a small house in Jayanagar and rented another house as Infosys headquarters. My father
presented Murty a scooter to commute. I once again became a cook, programmer, clerk,
secretary, office assistant et al. Nandan Nilekani (MD of Infosys) and his wife Rohini stayed with us. While Rohini babysat my son, I wrote programs for Infosys. There was no car, no phone, and just two kids and a bunch of us working hard, juggling our lives and having fun while Infosys was taking shape. It was not only me but also the wives of other partners too who gave their unstinted support. We all knew that our men were trying to build something good.

It was like a big joint family, taking care and looking out for one another. I still remember Sudha Gopalakrishna looking after my daughter Akshata with all care and love while Kumari Shibulal cooked for all of us. Murty made it very clear that it would either be me or him working at Infosys. Never the two of us together... I was involved with Infosys initially.

Nandan Nilekani suggested I should be on the Board but Murty said he did not want a husband and wife team at Infosys. I was shocked since I had the relevant experience and technical qualifications. He said, Sudha if you want to work with Infosys, I will withdraw, happily. I was pained to know that I will not be involved in the company my husband was building and that I would have to give up a job that I am qualified to do and love doing.

It took me a couple of days to grasp the reason behind Murty's request..I realized that to make Infosys a success one had to give one's 100 percent. One had to be focussed on it alone with no other distractions. If the two of us had to give 100 percent to Infosys then what would happen to our home and our children? One of us had to take care of our home while the other took care of Infosys.

I opted to be a homemaker, after all Infosys was Murty's dream. It was a big sacrifice but it was one that had to be made. Even today, Murty says, Sudha, I stepped on your career to make mine. You are responsible for my success..

Great na.... That's the Power of Love.

Every man needs a woman to motivate him and to give him a reason to live....

    What Nirmal Ram Means

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people. You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts. You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.
You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing. You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long. You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.
You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something. You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense. You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.
You are confident, self assured, and capable. You are not easily intimidated.
You master any and all skills easily. You don't have to work hard for what you want.
You make your life out to be exactly how you want it. And you'll knock down anyone who gets in your way!

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection. You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive. You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow.
You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily.
Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.

    BEING IN TWENTIES.....

    Saturday, February 23, 2008

It is when you stop going along with the crowd and start realizing that there are many things about yourself that you didn't know and may not like. You start feeling insecure and wonder where you will be in a year or two, but then get scared because you barely know where you are now.

You start realizing that people are selfish and that, maybe, those friends that you thought you were so close to aren't exactly the greatest people you have ever met, and the people you have lost touch with are some of the most important ones. What you don't recognize is that they are realizing that too, and aren't really cold, catty, mean or insincere, but that they are as confused as you.

You look at your job... and it is not even close to what you thought you would be doing, or maybe you are looking for a job and realizing that you are going to have to start at the bottom and that scares you.

Your opinions have gotten stronger. You see what others are doing and find yourself judging more than usual because suddenly you realize that you have certain boundaries in your life and are constantly adding things to your list of what is acceptable and what isn't. One minute, you are insecure and then the next, secure.

You laugh and cry with the greatest force of your life. You feel alone and scared and confused. Suddenly, change is the enemy and you try and cling on to the past with dear life, but soon realize that the past is drifting further and further away, and there is nothing to do but stay where you are or move forward.

You get your heart broken and wonder how someone you loved could do such damage to you. Or you lie in bed and wonder why you can't meet anyone decent enough that you want to get to know better. Or maybe you love someone but love someone else too and cannot figure out why you're doing this because you know that you aren't a bad person. One night stands and random hook ups start to look cheap. You want to settle down for good because now all of a sudden that becomes top priority. Getting wasted and acting like an idiot starts to look pathetic. You begin to think a companion for life is better than a hundred in the shack and for once you would not mind standing tall for that special someone which otherwise you had never thought of until now.You go through the same emotions and questions over and over, and talk with your friends about the same topics because you cannot seem to make a decision. You worry about loans, money, the future and making a life for yourself... and while winning the race would be great, right now you'd just like to be a contender!

What you may not realize is that every one reading this relates to it. We are in our best of times and our worst of times, trying as hard as we can to figure this whole thing out. Send this to your twenty-something friends... maybe it will help someone feel like they aren't alone in their state of confusion...

We call it the "Quarter-life Crisis." :)
