Monday, July 6, 2009

Charles(Hugh grant) meets the attractive Carrie(Andie MacDowell) in the first wedding, they spend the night together and in the morning she leaves him with out second thought. Again the Charles meets her in the second wedding with her fiancĂ©e. This time also they spend the night together and he leaves her before she wakes up. A month later he gets Carrie’s Wedding invitation and realizes that he is in love with her. He explains it to her beautifully that if anything goes wrong he’ll be there. Now Carrie’s Wedding takes place and one of charles’s closest friend collapses and dies. Now his funeral and in that Charles begins to think that he should get into a relationship. Did he marry? Whom did he marry? Forms the rest of the story. “Dialogues stand out and so does the song which extends through out the movie”. I recommend this Movie for Weekend

I cant resist keeping the review within 100 words. So this is 150 word review.

Fast times at Ridgemont High (1982)

This movie is a about a bunch of teens guys and girls attending Ridgemont high school and working in theatres, pizza corners and shops for their pocket money. They enjoy sex rock n roll and malls. And at the end of their senior year each one realizes something what they need and achieves something towards it. It’s an example of the teen movies of early 80’s. Watch it if you really have to. And I think this movie is much hyped about being hilarious while it’s not so humorous but has some fun elements which all the teen comedies have.

The way Home (2002 – Korean)

An unemployed mother leaves her kid in her mother’s house in an underdeveloped village. The plot of the movie fully revolves around the grandmother and the boy. The boy who gets annoyed by his grandma begins to realize how much she loves him and much more in his short stay at her place. At some point of time the kid says “if you are sick send me a blank mail, Ill understand”. And I should say a very selective casting makes this movie a biggie. The movie ends with the note “dedication to all grandmothers”. Indian Remake of this possible??

Angels and Demons

Much expected, as the Book is a bestseller. Ron Howard delivers his best. Robert Langdon is smarter than before with a smarter partner Victoria vetra. Tom Hanks proves in every scene. Ambigrams, Method of electing pope, the thrill of finding where will be the next killing makes it nearly an edge of the seat thriller. But the movie sags a little towards the middle. Beauty of Vatican and Rome and the way they have been captured make this movie enter into the list of “see at least once” category. Anti-matter can be a truth in near future. Who knows?

Aegan – Not upto the mark.

I have always wanted to see this movie merely bcoz its adaptation of “Main Hoon Na”. Ajith plays his part well even in comedy scenes. The plot, not up to the mark. Intro scene could have been better. And Ajith is under utilized definitely. Sushmita sen was sensuous in the original. Nayantara was artificial. She is just used for skin show and nothing else really. Audiences are really bored of her half way through the movie. As a choreographer Raj Sundaram stands out. Thanks to him that we see Ajith dancing after a long time.

Mini plot: Headlines "A small time writer got Murdered". He was found dead in the pool of the yestyear actress "Norma desmond".All wants to know what really happened.

Plot : This is a story which was happening
at the back drop of Hollywood in 1950's.It was the time where silent movies were long forgotten so do their hero's and heroin's. Aging, long forgotten actress of silent movies, "Norma Desmond" lives with her servant(though we find out on due course that he is not just a servant, he was her first husband he was the one who is sending her fan letters and he was the one who directed her to fame in her years.. Back to the plot..ahem.. )and she is desperately looking for a come back into the movies. A small time writer finds himself followed by the men who were after his car for the non-repayment of his lone. He finds shelter in Norma's place and she falls in love with him and attempts suicide as he dint accept her. At this stage, The writer falls in love with an young girl in reader's dept of paramount pictures. What follows next forms the rest of the story.

MY thoughts : This movie was released even before my dad was born. But the camera is fresh. The screenplay at its best. Even it can be remade in any language at any time after all which of the long forgotten heroins dont want a comeback.

Verdict : 7/10. See if you are the lover of cinema and if you are the one who encourages the same.

see you.

SAVE THE LAST DANCE

{cast : Julia Stiles, sean patrick thomas, kerry washington }

Plot: Sara moves to live with her dad after the death of her mom. That was the neighbourhood of black people. There she get to know derick who teaches her hip-hop /steps. Derek comes to know about sara's passion of becoming professional ballerina and she has given up balle as she thought it was her fault her mom died. Derek makes sara re-live her dream and she gets recruited by the best balle school.

My Thoughts: I had seen step up series and few other dance movies. I saw this movie was on the list of must see dance movies. Ya, It has dance,it has a bit of sentiment, romance and all that . But it dint impress me as step up did. I mean dance wise. After seeing this movie, I read the review of save the dance 2(OMG!! It said dont watch it,if you liked STLD 1).So planning not to take a risk now.

Verdict : 5/10. If you are a balle fan and if you wanna catch up with simple and easy steps in hip-hop. GO for it. This movie teaches you "how to sit the hip-hoppy way".

See you
